My Priorities

Ready to get Colorado moving again? Join Heidi’s Team!

Safety

  • We need to return to law and order, with a strong parole board, truth in sentencing, and bail reform that does not allow for the release of repeat offenders.
  • End Colorado’s status as a sanctuary state to combat the flow of fentanyl.
  • Heidi will treat fentanyl as the poison that it is by re-criminalizing fentanyl possession in any amount.
  • Supporting our law enforcement community and providing resources for recruiting and training will be a priority.
  • Colorado must get rid of personal recognizance bonds.
  • Heidi will ensure that schools are safe places for our children to learn. She will encourage school districts to utilize School Resource Officers and/or enhanced security measures.
  • Let’s address addiction with compassion for all involved, including more access to care but with consequences for criminal behavior.
  • We can stop rampant homelessness by ending public drug use, prosecuting criminal behavior, using outcome-based funding models, and cleaning up our streets and parks.

COLORADO FREEDOM

  • The cost of living is out of control in Colorado. Heidi will put more money back in the pockets of Coloradans by eliminating the individual state income tax and cutting the gas tax in half while still fixing the roads.
  • Heidi will cut the size of the state government 10% per year in her first term as governor. Under Governor Polis, the size of Colorado’s government has grown nearly 25% and the state budget has doubled in the last 10 years.
  • As Governor, Heidi will respect both religious and civil liberties. She will allow religious organizations to decide who they will marry while also respecting the right of same-sex couples to marry.
  • Mandates need to be replaced with trust in Coloradans to do the right thing.
  • Small businesses like restaurants and child care providers need support. Heidi will remove unneeded regulations and create policies that encourage job creation.
  • We must prioritize incentives for smart development and reduce the red tape preventing affordable housing.
  • Restoring voter confidence in 2022 is paramount. We can achieve that with increased transparency, accountability, and oversight.

Family

  • Heidi will take real action to address our state’s mental health crisis and tragic teen suicide rates. We can accomplish this by shifting to outcome-based funding models, using emergency authority to add mobile response units and thousands of beds for treatment, and launching a recruiting and training effort to support professionals.
  • Heidi is pro-life with exceptions for the rare and terrible instances of rape, incest, and the health and life of the mother and child. She feels the current late-term abortion law signed by Jared Polis should be repealed and replaced. Coloradans are not extremists. Heidi will do everything in her power to end late-term abortion.
  • To address the huge gaps in learning and better partner with parents, we will work to fund the family, not the system. We must ensure transparency in the curriculum and boost fundamentals like reading, writing, and math.
  • Critical reforms to our family courts and welfare system will help our children thrive.
  • Colleges and universities should be held accountable for a student’s success and not be permitted to hyperinflate the cost of a degree. Heidi opposes President Biden’s student debt relief – hardworking Coloradans should not incur the debt of others.

RURAL COLORADO

  • The environment is important to all Coloradans. An all-of-the-above energy approach will ensure we have affordable energy that is clean and safe. Heidi will get the energy industry back to work.
  • We will protect farmers, ranchers, and property owners’ mineral and water rights.
  • Let’s fix the roads across our state. We must ensure that Coloradans can get to and from work, our ski areas, and the beautiful Western Slope.
  • We will aggressively manage our forests to address fires.
  • We will develop broadband in gap areas and create employment opportunities for rural Colorado so children can stay in their hometowns.
