PRESS RELEASE: Democratic Legislators Refuse to Investigate Polis’ Nursing Home Nightmare
January 25, 2022

FORT LUPTON, CO – While Jared Polis is busy campaigning against his own failed far-left policies, Democratic legislators are busy cleaning up his mess. Democrats in the Colorado General Assembly today voted down an investigation into more than a thousand COVID-related nursing home deaths that occurred on Polis’ watch.

Polis chose to use a brand new startup company called Curative, knowing the company had virtually no data to support its new COVID testing. He heard about the company from a major Democratic campaign donor who had a financial stake in the fledgling company.

In September of 2020, $89 million was given to Curative, which had no FDA approval for the type of testing the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) was recommending. The contract was not bid out. Four months after the tests were introduced in Colorado, the head of seven nursing homes sounded the alarm that these tests were bringing back false results.

On January 4th, 2021, the FDA issued a warning against using Curative tests. Still, the CDPHE continued to encourage nursing homes to use the tests. It took two weeks for the CDPHE to finally decide to stop using these tests.

We need transparency and ethics in our government. We need a governor that will admit failures, investigate problems, act with honesty, and refuse to let political cronies guide policy and dictate state business. When I am governor, I will ensure there is an investigation into the use of Curative and the tragic deaths in our nursing homes.
